Young Musician for Africa previous     next

9 July 2009

Lizzi Hewitt, Leader of the Lincolnshire Youth Symphony Orchestra (LYSO), has volunteered to work at the ´Watoto Wa Barake´ (Children of Blessing) Orphanage in Africa. During her 3 month stay later this year she will be caring for, helping, teaching English and (quote), "hopefully sharing my music with some of the most underprivileged children in Africa". To raise funds for her trip, Lizzi organised a concert in All Saints, Nocton, featuring school and music colleagues, and two professional musicians – with everyone giving their time and talents free.

Over the years members of our Club have enjoyed Lizzi´s musical talents as she took part in performances with the LYSO at concerts organised by the Club.
